wedding trial prep tips and recommendations

why should you have a wedding hair and makeup trial?

It all comes down to your comfortability.
there is a sense of security going into your wedding day knowing how you will look when you get out of my chair. wedding trials are for us to try looks based on your likes, dislikes, and the style you are looking to achieve. I translate all of that into a look that will stay all day and look great in photos. If you don't get glammed up often I would 100% recommend a trial so you can start to see yourself as a bride.

I want you to look back on your wedding photos with confidence that you look and felt beautiful.

wedding prep tips

  • when should I book a trial?

    • In my experience, the sweet spot is between 2-3 months before your wedding day.
    • you want to have most of your decisions made when it comes to what you're gonna wear before adding in glam.
  • I don't exactly know what kind of look I want.

I have curated Pinterest boards with my client's go-to inspo photos. I reccomend creating your own glam board and saving the ones that stand out to you.

  • how should I prep my skin/ hair for the trial?

  • what about other beauty appointments?

    • it's a good time to start booking your final hair trims, facials, color touch-ups, tanning, lash extensions, or waxing appointments soon!
    • it's not recommended to do any new services the first time within a week or 2 of your wedding.
    • try a new stylist or treatment at least 2 months before, just in case something doesn't turn out how you hoped.
    • be sure to do any treatments that will irritate the skin AT LEAST 1 -2 weeks before your wedding date, especially if your skin is sensitive.
    • need esthetician or stylist recommendations? let me know when booking or during your trial.
  • what to wear?

    • it's best to come with a top or dress with a similar color, shape, or neckline to what you plan to wear. it helps your visualize the look without having to try it on.
    • if you plan on changing for an event after, wear a super stretchy or button-down top.
  • can I bring along any family or friends?

    • you may bring no more than 2 people with you to your trial because of limited space. anyone who you think will be helpful is welcome, or you may come solo.
    • address is 307 Annandale rd Falls Church, VA 22042
  • can I book my trial before an event?

    • many of my couples opt to book their trial before their bridal shower, photoshoot, or other special event. while that does give us a great idea of how the look will last and show up in photos, you may be distracted or feel rushed.
    • please be available and present for the entire 3 hours. the trial may not take the entire 3 hours, but you don't want to feel rushed to make the next event.
  • what about before a dress fitting?

    • my one exception to the rule is  booking your trial on the day you are going for an alterations or fitting appointment.
    • this allows you to see the entire look as a whole for the first time.
    • it's a completely different feeling when you're in casual clothing vs your wedding attire.
